The Pearl Poet

The Pearl Poet is an unknown author of several well-known Medieval poems. This poet is suspected to have written the poems Pearl, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Patience, and Cleanness. These poems are of epic proportions and tell of a rich past in Medieval England.

Perle, plesaunte to prynces paye                                               Pearl, to delight a prince's day,
To clanly clos in golde so clere;                                               Flawlessly set in gold so fair
Oute of oryent, I hardyly saye.                                                 In all the East, I dare to say,
Ne proved I never her precios pere.                                         I have not found one to compare.
