Evaluative Statement/References

Through this project I have realized that the creation of our language is not black and white. Our history is combined with that of other languages, and the advent of our language is because of the combining of different cultures. This is something to keep in mind because it emphasizes the fluidity of language in general. Middle English is so very different than what we have come to understand as English, and it is because language is flexible that it shifted over the course of centuries. When teaching students, I firmly believing in making sure that they feel that they can be authentic to themselves and to their culture, the English language is a testament to that. Language will shift and it is important that we recognize that and that we don't let our idea of correctness influence that.
